Questions

Answers Without the Sales Pitch

Everything below is what we would tell you on the phone. If your question is not here, call the bench — we would rather talk you out of an unnecessary session than book it.

Am I good enough to be fitted?

This is the question we hear most and the one with the least interesting answer: skill has almost nothing to do with it. A higher-handicap player who is fighting an ill-fitting grip and a club that is an inch too long is losing more shots to equipment than a scratch player ever does. If anything, the less consistent your swing, the more a badly matched club punishes you.

Do I have to buy new clubs at the end?

No, and roughly a third of our sessions end with no component purchase at all. If the fix is length, lie, grip build-up or a sole tweak on what you already own, we do the bench work and bill the bench rate. Nobody here is measured on component revenue.

Why do you measure hands before hitting anything?

Because grip diameter changes how much you squeeze, how much you squeeze changes how the club releases, and how it releases changes every number a launch monitor would show us. If we fit a head and shaft around a grip that is wrong, we have fitted you to a compensation. Measuring first takes fifteen minutes and keeps the rest of the session honest.

How long does a session actually take?

A single club runs about ninety minutes. Wedges usually go two hours because the turf board work takes time. A full bag is split across two visits of roughly two and a half hours each. We do not book anything else into the bay while you are in it, so overruns are our problem, not yours.

What should I bring?

The clubs you currently play in the category being fitted, your normal golf shoes, and a glove if you wear one. If your grips are worn, bring them worn — the wear pattern is genuinely useful data and a fresh regrip erases it.

Do you fit for left-handed players?

Yes, with the same component access. Left-handed head selection in some wedge grinds is thinner across the whole market, so if you play a specialised grind we will tell you early what is realistically available rather than at the end.

Can you fit juniors?

We fit juniors from about eleven upward, and we deliberately fit them a little conservatively because they grow. For a junior who is still changing size quickly, the honest advice is often a length and grip adjustment on existing clubs once or twice a year rather than a new set.

How long until I get the clubs back?

Bench work on clubs you already own is usually two to four business days. New builds depend on component lead time — typically one to three weeks, and we tell you which before you commit. Everything gets re-measured after cure, which is why nothing is same-day.

What happens if the specs feel wrong after a few rounds?

Bring them back. Ninety days of adjustments on anything we built are included: tape, length, lie, grip swap, swing weight. Feel takes a few rounds to settle and we would rather tune it than have you quietly stop using the club.

Do you do simulator sessions or lessons?

We use measurement tools during fittings but we are not a teaching facility and we do not sell lesson packages. If what is limiting you is a swing pattern rather than a spec, we will say so and give you names.

Is there a charge if I book and cannot make it?

Not if you give us a day. The bay is single-occupancy so a no-show is genuinely a lost slot, but a phone call the evening before costs nothing and lets us give it to somebody on the wait list.

Do you take walk-ins?

For questions, regrips and quick bench work, often yes. For a fitting session, no — the bay has to be blocked out in advance. Call ahead and we will tell you honestly whether there is room that day.

Still Unsure

Ask Before You Book

A two-minute phone call has saved plenty of people a session fee they did not need to spend. That is a fine outcome for us.

Rather talk it through than fill in a form? The bench phone rings straight to whoever is fitting that day.
