We Started as a Grip Bench and Never Really Left It
GripTech Fit opened in 2009 doing one thing: regripping clubs properly, with the club measured before and after. The fitting studio grew out of what that bench kept revealing.
Two Thousand Regrips Will Teach You Something
The original shop was a single bench in a unit off Baymeadows, and the work was almost entirely regripping and reshafting for people who had broken something. There was no launch monitor and no simulator. What there was, in quantity, was worn grips — and worn grips are a diary.
A grip that is polished smooth under the lead thumb but nearly new under the trail hand tells you exactly how the golfer holds pressure. One that has rotated on the shaft says the diameter is wrong for the hand. After a couple of thousand of them, patterns stop being anecdotes.
By 2013 more people were coming in for the diagnosis than for the regrip, and the second bay went in that autumn.
Same street the whole time. Most of our regulars found us because a friend's clubs suddenly started behaving.
A Fitting Is a Measurement Exercise, Not a Sales Meeting
There is a version of club fitting that exists to move inventory. You know it when you see it: the session is ninety minutes, it ends with a quote, and the quote is always for new clubs. We think that is a fine way to run a retail floor and a poor way to fit a golfer.
Our version ends with a written card. Sometimes that card says buy nothing. Roughly a third of the sessions we run finish with bench adjustments to clubs the player already owns, and that is a good outcome, not a failed sale.
If we cannot show you the measurement that produced the recommendation, the recommendation is just an opinion with a price attached.

Fitting for Northeast Florida, Specifically
A studio in Arizona and a studio here should not be producing the same wedge specs, and it bothers us how often they do. The turf is different, the moisture is different, and the season is different — we play year round, which means grips wear faster and groove edges round off sooner than the manufacturer's guidance assumes.
So our reference conditions are local ones. Tight winter bermuda. August afternoons where everything is soaked by four o'clock. Coarse, shell-heavy bunker sand on the older courses near the river, and soft imported silica on the newer ones out toward St. Johns. We fit for the range of them, not the average of them.

We are not coaches. If a fault is technique rather than equipment, we will say so and point you toward someone who teaches for a living.
Same-Day Full Bags
A complete bag done properly runs across two visits. Anyone promising all fourteen clubs in one afternoon is skipping the cure and re-check.

Nobody can honestly promise you yardage. We can promise repeatable contact and specs you can verify with a caliper.
Come and Look at the Bench
Walk-ins are welcome to see the space and ask questions, even without an appointment. Sessions themselves need a booking, because the bay only holds one player at a time.
